This topic revolves about semantic interoperability in the context of the STRIP Assistant. STRIPA aims to extend GPIS functionality through transparant integration within the extisting GPISs. This requires bidirectional system integration of a dozen closed source GPIS solutions. Information security and privacy are also A major challenge with numerous judicial implications.

One potential solution to resolve these integration and security issues is to include a GPIS repository as a dispatching intermediairy layer. Privacy is then preserved implicitly, while still allowing the GP access to the resolved identities of their patients. Additional benefits are availability of anonimized pharmaceutical laboratory data from associated Ph-ISs [i.e. SFK-adapter].

So, what is needed is an architecture of a Dutch medical inter-organisational system which accomodates bidirectional data flows to all relevant data elements from various ISen form various organisations, explicifying the required protocols, while maintaining privacy-preservation.
