The company has an established approach to developing IT Strategy with clients. This approach is currently under revision and is being improved with the latest insights and best practices. The assignment is to help enhance the approach and to create a standard and complete methodology for IT Strategy. This will ensure that the methodology can be applied in a repeatable manner. Furthermore, they would like to compare the current IT Strategy Approach with other comparable and successful methodologies from literature & practice.

The assignment will include both a research component as well as a practical side where the gained insight has to be applied in developing materials that can be readily used in our engagements. Key research questions are:
  • What constitutes a successful IT Strategy?
  • What are the critical success factors in both defining an IT strategy & making the execution of the IT strategy succeed?
  • How do the characteristics of an IT Strategy vary per industry segment?
  • What are the key business & technology trends per industry segment that will create the need for leading Netherlands based companies to revise/update their IT Strategy?
  • How can the current approach be improved and further standardized?
IMPORTANT: This project consists of developing an IT Strategy situational supermethod, thus requiring good Method Engineering skills, along the lines of Luinenburg, Hovell, etc.
