iFM 2023 will take place at Scheltema Leiden, an old blanket factory situated in Leiden’s historical city center. Leiden Central Station is a less than 10-minute walk and parking is just around the corner, in the Lammermarkt underground car park.

Scheltema Leiden is a monumental building intimately linked to the history of the city. The main conference will use the Theater room on the ground floor.

FMAS 2023 on Wednesday 15 November will use the Expo 1 room on the first floor in the morning while in the afternoon will join the main conference on the Theater room on the ground floor for the join sessions with iFM 2023. On Thursday 16 November, FMAS will use the Expo 2 room on the second floor. All upper floors are easily accessible with a staircase and a lift.

The PhD symposium (on 16 November) will be in the Ketelhuis room on the ground floor.

All lunches, breaks, and the main conference reception (on 13 November) will use the Foyer and the Ketelhuis room.

Accommodation

There is no designated conference hotel, as most hotels are relatively small and scattered in different parts of the city. The following hotels are within 5-15 minutes walking distance from the conference venue:

Travel to Leiden

Leiden is ideally situated just a stone's throw from major cities like The Hague and Amsterdam. Schiphol Airport is less than twenty minutes away, and Rotterdam The Hague Airport is twenty-five minutes. If you are arriving by public transport, the city center is just a few steps from Leiden Central Station. For those who prefer to come by car, it is easy to park in Leiden.

Plan your route: by plane
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is the largest Dutch airport offering great transport links to Leiden and the rest of the Netherlands. You can easily take the train, catch a bus, or rent a car.
Schiphol Train Station is located directly below the airport. It only takes a couple of minutes to walk from Arrivals to Schiphol Plaza, where you can take the stairs, escalator, or lift down to the train platforms.
The airport is easy to reach and offers excellent parking facilities. You can also rent a car. Book the vehicle of your choice online or at one of the car rental desks in Arrivals 3.

Plan your route: by train
If you are flying to Schiphol Amsterdam Airport (AMS), the easiest way to travel to Leiden is by train.The airport has an underground railway station with frequent services to Leiden (as the final destination, or en route to The Hague/Den Haag, Rotterdam, or Vlissingen). The train journey from the airport to Leiden takes 15-20 minutes. You can book your train ticket in advance via the website of the Dutch Railways.

The Leiden city center is just a few steps from Leiden Central Station. The Hague is ten minutes away by train, and Amsterdam is thirty-five minutes.

Plan your route: by car
Leiden is located between the A4 and A44 highways and is easily accessible by car. If you are going by car to the center of Leiden, you can reserve a parking space with a discount in advance. Choose the date, time, and length of your visit in advance. The longer you visit, the higher your discount. You can book at the parking garages Lammermarkt, Garenmarkt, and Morspoort.

Leiden is easy to reach by public transport. The bus station is right in front of Leiden Central Station and there are many routes serving the city and the region. The conference venue is a 10-minute walk from the train station.

Leiden is a city in the Dutch province of South Holland. It’s known for its centuries-old architecture and for Leiden University, the country’s oldest, dating from 1575. The university houses the Leiden Botanical Garden, founded in 1590, where the tulip was introduced to Western Europe. The Museum de Lakenhal (a few meters away from the conference venue) displays work by Dutch Masters including Rembrandt, who was born in Leiden.
